In a year of severe drought, He Shouchuan rescues a little azure dragon from the dry well in his own courtyard. The little dragon can sense underground water veins, leading the entire village to a clear spring blocked by rocks. Together, they overcome salinized land, locust plagues, and devastating flash floods. After the disasters pass, a broken chain reappears, and the dragon retreats into a freezing pool. Using the broken chain as a magical weapon, He Shouchuan boils the icy pool and slays the evil dragon. In the muddy earth, he plants new seeds once more.
