Gu An is a famously handsome and talented scholar of the Great Li Dynasty, who originally wanted to live in peace, but became entangled in imperial struggles. Dugu Muxue accidentally selected Gu An to undergo a tribulation, originally for enlightenment, but developed genuine feelings. After gaining power, she kept him in the palace. His master also had her heart of Dao shaken because of him, wanting to protect and hide him. Later she came to her senses, realizing that generations of the sect had their hearts stirred by Gu An, and finally found release.
