A down-and-out environmental startup founder, Lin Jianqing, returns to a mountain village in Hubei carrying a scandal involving counterfeiting. As the New Year approaches, bamboo weaving in the village is lagging in sales and ugly citrus fruits are being rejected. Inspired by his mother's bamboo shavings and citrus peel cleansing paste, and with the help of volunteer teacher Xu Weiguang, he turns waste into eco-friendly cleaning products. Facing skepticism from village elders and the temptation of a huge buyout offer, he rejects shortcuts, exposes his past, leads villagers in live streaming to trace product origins, and stages a comeback at the New Year goods market. On New Year's Eve, the waste pile turns into a light exhibition, father and son reconcile, his career is reborn, and he reaps romance with Weiguang.
