Gu Ningchuan wakes up one day to find that he has crossed into another world and become a menial disciple of the Qinglan Sect, regarded as the most useless trash in the sect. His fate takes a turn when he awakens his special ability, the Microcosmic Eye, which can see through anyone's true cultivation level and expose flaws in their techniques. As the sect's once-every-three-years Ascension Ceremony approaches, the winner will receive an ancient inheritance and become a disciple of an elder. The fellow disciples who once mocked him and the antagonist He Kun, who secretly suppressed him, are exposed for who they really are under the Microcosmic Eye. Fighting alongside Su Wanyue, the sect master's exceptionally talented daughter, he overcomes one challenge after another, uncovers conspiracies, and repeatedly humiliates his enemies, ultimately reaching the top of the ceremony and uncovering a century-old secret buried in the forbidden grounds.
