Shen Yan is deliberately assigned to guard an abandoned icehouse. Just as the vegetable harvest in three towns reaches its peak, Wei Laosi, the dominant produce buyer, forces farmers to sell their crops at rock-bottom prices. Using low-cost preservation techniques, Shen Yan breaks through the old system. Starting with saving a single basket of cucumbers, he gradually takes control of cold-storage slots, shipping windows, and cooperative supply deals, reclaiming the power to set prices. In the end, he brings down the entire exploitative distribution system built on squeezing farmers with unfairly low prices.
