Young couple Zhang Tao and Li Na raise Ao Li, a star German Shepherd who has filmed multiple movies and TV works. Someone offers three hundred thousand to buy him, but the two flatly refuse—Ao Li is already their family. After moving into a new residential community due to demolition, they are reported by neighbors for the city ban on large dogs. The couple helplessly sends Ao Li away, but it goes on a hunger strike in protest; after bringing it back and releasing it into the wild, it manages to find its way home every single time. Until Li Na becomes pregnant and separation is mandatory. During the final release, Ao Li understands its owners' helplessness and chooses a silent farewell.
