Ye Zhibai obtains a portal connecting multiple worlds and travels to a parallel Ming Dynasty, where he opens a modern supermarket. On its opening day, Emperor Hongwu, Zhu Yuanzhang, who is traveling incognito, comes knocking. A lighter earns him five taels of silver, while a beam from a flashlight reveals the future of the Ming Dynasty. As more portals open, Zhu Yuanzhang accompanies Ye Zhibai across different parallel Ming Dynasties, meeting old acquaintances, resolving old grievances, and making up for past regrets.
