Li Ping, a middle-aged security guard from the modern world, unexpectedly travels to an imaginary dynasty and becomes a timid old man whom everyone in the village bullies. The original owner of the body was weak-willed and muddleheaded, with no say in his own household. His wife played favorites, while his troublesome relatives constantly pushed the family around. When he opens his eyes again, a new soul inhabits his body. From then on, he establishes family rules and sets the household straight, dealing with his unreasonable wife and his shrewish, troublemaking daughter-in-law, protecting his hardworking eldest daughter-in-law who has suffered unjustly, and caring for his thin, sickly-looking little grandson. Little by little, he turns the chaotic, broken household into a proper family.
