Shen Du accidentally arrives at the Jiuyang Sect and is taken as a disciple by Xuan Yangzi. He concentrates on cultivating the cultivation method taught by his master until mastery, deeply believing that the sect upholds morality and justice, and viewing his master's various hardships as cultivation trials. Xuan Yangzi repeatedly targets Shen Du using external forces, but instead helps him gain opportunities time and again. Shen Du subdues the spirit creature Gu Ji, resolves the Divine Phoenix's obsession, and greatly increases his cultivation level. Fellow disciples who know the inside story live in daily fear. Returning from searching for medicine, Shen Du stumbles upon his master's secret, and strange events occur one after another. When he travels far away again and witnesses all phenomena in the world, his answer to morality and justice begins to crumble.
