At Shen's Meatball Shop in the old street, Shen Guangfu has guarded handcrafted meatballs for forty years. Young Shen Yiming brings his grandfather's knife to learn the craft, going from blood blisters to thick calluses, hammering out bouncy beef meatballs, beef tendon meatballs, and cotton-like meatballs that melt in the mouth. Faced with low-price competition from the machine-made meatball shop across the street, they rely on craftsmanship and sincerity to keep diners. Shen Guangfu's son Shen Yuan also resigns and returns. Three knives, three generations, one golden signboard, amidst the pounding sounds, continuing the undying fireworks and heritage.
