Upon transmigrating and waking up, Chen Shi is immediately cornered by high-interest loan sharks. He forms a dual-soul partnership with Morgan Colt, a Wall Street godfather living in his mind, and fights back from the opening by using three empty-glove contracts. Caught between a soul-wish toll mechanism and a slacking-off cooldown period, Chen Shi makes his first pot of gold from futures hedging, pays off his usury early, and short-sells to destroy the Taiping Town underground money house. However, because the money house collapse affects local depositor villagers, he turns from a hero into a sinner. Later on, Chen Shi establishes the Qingshui Cooperative, integrates the township's agricultural and sideline products by leveraging the e-commerce wave, and reaches a net worth of over ten million. Yet, the Zhou family of the provincial capital and Shen Zhixia of Jiangcheng simultaneously take notice of this trader wearing Liberation shoes.
