During a famine, hunter Xie Beishan was swept away by a mountain flood while saving his fellow villagers. During his three-year coma, his relatives seized the relief grain, forced his wife Xu Tang to remarry, and even planned to abandon him at a dilapidated temple. At this critical moment, the young eagle he had once rescued had grown into Chi Ling, the king of eagles, and returned with its flock to awaken him. With his knowledge of the mountains and forests and his ability to share Chi Ling's vision, Xie Beishan reclaims his family home and hunting grounds, protects his wife and daughter, and punishes the wicked. Together with the kind-hearted villagers, he carves out a path to survival in desperate circumstances. Eventually, their granaries are full, the evildoers face justice, and the family finds a peaceful home alongside Chi Ling, putting down roots despite the famine.
