The female protagonist of the Ark crashes onto a cold-weapon alien planet and is hanged as a disaster star for a fiery execution. In a desperate situation, she relies on her own abilities to steadily establish her footing step by step: predicting eclipses, seizing firearms, defending an isolated city, resisting beast tides—until she discovers that the companion star in the sky has been continuously issuing orders to the beast hordes. The harvester calls out to take the city, and she sneers, "Come one, take one."
