Lin Wanxing, a project director at an engineering company, was separated from her family as a young child and built her career on her own. She spent all her savings preparing for her wedding to Song Jingxing. On the wedding day, her biological older brother, Lin Yanshen, who claims to be a security guard, suddenly appears and presents a token to prove their kinship. Song Jingxing and his status-conscious parents look down on Lin Yanshen for his humble position, publicly humiliate him, and pressure Lin Wanxing to demand an exorbitant reunion gift. Lin Wanxing then discovers, to her shock, that Song Jingxing has long been cheating on her with Shen Manning, the heiress of the Shen family, who is already pregnant. Song Jingxing intends to marry Lin Wanxing only to get a free housekeeper and use her as a cover for his child. Seeing the truth, Lin Wanxing tears apart the wedding on the spot and decisively calls off the engagement.
