The traditional craft of pickling has been lost in Pickle Village, and supplies have run out. Zhou Mancang, a good-for-nothing son-in-law, is publicly driven out by his father-in-law and cursed by the villagers. Carrying his family's ancestral jar of old mother-and-son sauce, he preserves the nearly forgotten ancient technique of “three turns and three sun-dryings.” Despite exclusion, deliberate obstruction, cut-off supplies of ingredients, malicious framing, and one crisis after another, he pours his heart into brewing the sauce. Through hardship and struggles against human scheming, he turns the tables with the authentic aroma of traditionally fermented sauce, resolves every crisis, helps the entire village revive its old craft and reopen sales channels, and ultimately unites everyone in shared prosperity, bringing the century-old pickling tradition back to life.
