Song Nanzhi, the concubine-born daughter of the General's Mansion, returns to the capital, just as her legitimate elder sister, Song Nanyin, suffers a tragic death after being cast aside and divorced. She carries a coffin into the State Duke's Mansion, cripples the fickle heir Xiao Yuming, and tears apart the wicked relatives and behind-the-scenes minions who framed her elder sister. The Emperor bestows a marriage between her and the poisoned, dormant Prince Regent Fu Linxiu. From probing each other to joining forces, the two uncover the aristocratic struggles and court conspiracy behind her sister's murder. In the end, she clears her sister's name, protects her family, and firmly establishes herself amidst the vortex of political scheming.
