Xiao Bai, a bone demon guarding a desolate hill for a century, chances upon Dou Niang, whose life is filled with bitterness and sorrow, and the two forge a rare bond as soulmates. Before passing away after enduring endless hardships, Dou Niang bestows her remaining vitality upon Xiao Bai. Returning to the mortal realm in a human body, Xiao Bai avenges her late friend, only to discover that doing good deeds is the only way to stabilize her fleshly body. She opens a medical clinic to help the impoverished, winning the genuine hearts of the common folk through her benevolence. When a severe drought strikes, she sacrifices all her cultivation to pray for rain and protect the myriad people. Years later, Dou Niang is reincarnated and returns to stay by her side, finally bringing their bond—spanning two lifetimes—to a fulfilling completion, as the withered bones finally welcome the warmth of mortal spring.
