Outer sect disciple Ling Shuo contracted a seemingly dying dark brown wild chicken during the spirit beast contract ceremony, enduring the mockery of sect disciples, and also made a beast-fighting pact with inner sect pride Xiao Jin. In reality, this wild chicken is a Ember-Fire Golden Phoenix whose bloodline is dormant. Ling Shuo headed to the black market at the foot of the mountain, buying up abandoned and sickly spirit beasts discarded by everyone: a bald wolf cub, a foul-mouthed colorful parrot, and a muddy-water black snake, determined to lead this group of unpromising waste beasts to a counterattack.
