The mistress Bai Yanyan stops at nothing to reach the top, schemingly finding Cheng An'an, the daughter of Zhong Li, the legal wife of Cheng Yi. With a fake smile and sweet words, she beguiles An'an into persuading her parents to divorce. An'an is instantly struck as if by lightning, her inner defenses collapsing, completely unable to accept this cruel fact, and runs out crying. As fate would have it, An'an suffers a car accident. To keep Cheng Yi, Bai Yanyan hardens her heart and conceals all of this, having Cheng Yi accompany her and her daughter. Poor Cheng An'an ultimately passes away; upon learning the truth, Zhong Li's eyes are filled with hatred, secretly vowing to make Bai Yanyan pay a painful price.
