On the Mid-Autumn Festival night, she catches the whole mansion celebrating a reunion while keeping her alone in the dark. Yinyin, framed jointly by her husband Xiao Chengyuan and younger sister Shen Zhaoyue, sees her parents fall off a cliff and her son pass away from illness—all of which turns out to be a self-directed hoax. The system announces a task failure and her departure from the world in three days. Enduring her grief, she sets up a scheme to expose the fraud publicly, then calmly fades away. Xiao Chengyuan is consumed by regret, building shrines and seeking deities to no avail as he fails to call her back. On her way back, Yinyin bids farewell to her son, leaving resolutely with the words: "I am not forgiving you; I am simply too lazy to calculate anymore." From then on, Xiao Chengyuan remains unmarried for the rest of his life, setting out two sets of bowls and chopsticks under the begonia tree year after year. Yinyin returns to the modern world, waking up from the dream as usual.
