When modern youth Fang Yang opens his eyes, he has transmigrated into the sole heir of the Duke Cheng's Mansion in the Great Chu Dynasty, also becoming the number one prodigal son mocked by everyone in the capital. At the start, because he played a prank on his teacher, he is chased and beaten all over the courtyard with a horse whip by his father Fang Jingsheng, the Duke of Cheng. When his fiancée, Song Yiran, the daughter of the vice-minister, comes over to call off the engagement, he readily and straightforwardly agrees. Facing the mess of a declining family and an empty treasury, Fang Yang secretly pawns fertile fields to raise capital from his father, uses modern craftsmanship to brew the potent liquor 'Immortal's Intoxication', first gets nursery rhymes sung all over the streets to build momentum, then stuns everyone with handed-down poetry at a poetry gathering, and then publicly defeats the opponent from the Yongping Marquis's Mansion in a drinking contest at a tavern. From then on, 'Immortal's Intoxication' becomes famous throughout the capital, and orders fill the long street.
