On Lunar New Year's Eve, Lu Xiao discovers that his mother has been driven out of her home by his wife, Cheng Jingyi, and has suffered from the freezing cold to the point of being hospitalized. After returning to the country, he exposes his wife's cruelty toward the elderly woman and her lover Wei Zi'ang's complicity, as well as their theft of his mother's identity to register shell companies and embezzle assets. Lu Xiao decisively cuts off their financial support, gathers evidence, drives the two out of his home, and brings them to justice. In the end, his mother regains her dignity by attending literacy classes, and the family reunites at their old home to welcome the New Year with a truly warm reunion feast.
