Hailstorms devastate a peach orchard. Zhou Cheng, a fruit wholesaler, offers to buy hail-damaged peaches directly from the farmers for 0.8 yuan per jin. However, the villagers drive him away and smash his scale because an out-of-town businessman promises to buy all their peaches for 1.6 yuan per jin. That high-price promise soon turns into selective grading, price cuts, short weighing, and delayed payments. Ma Dafu and Han Qiang even try to shift the unpaid debts onto Zhou Cheng. Armed with contracts and evidence, Zhou Cheng uncovers the truth, refuses to take the blame for others, and gives the fruit growers a chance to make their own choices.
