Chen Haisheng has been making roast goose for twenty years, insisting on seven-jin Magang geese and litchi wood roasting, with full weight, full ingredients, a good taste and reputation, and booming business. His apprentice, Zhou Weijie, grew envious. After finishing his apprenticeship in making roast goose, Zhou opened a shop right across from his master Chen Haisheng, using low prices to steal his master's roast goose order for the Lantern Festival's eighty-table lantern banquet. Zhou also used public opinion to make his master's shop cancel multiple consecutive orders, monopolizing the business himself. Even though his business was stolen and costs were rising, Chen Haisheng still persisted in maintaining his original aspiration of making roast goose. With both operating businesses, Zhou Weijie step by step walked down a different path.
