The orphaned young man Gou Dan works hard growing melons for a whole year and earns 120,000 yuan, only to have his uncle maliciously withhold his share of the profits on New Year's Eve, giving him just 10,000 yuan before kicking him out of the house. With nowhere else to go, he moves into a dilapidated shed at the entrance of the village and vows to turn his life around through melon farming. Despite his uncle and aunt repeatedly cutting off his water supply, destroying his seedlings, and making things difficult by switching his fertilizer, he remains committed to honest, eco-friendly farming. He grows exceptionally sweet, premium watermelons that become an overnight sensation. When faced with rumors, attempts to steal his customers, and deliberate sabotage, Gou Dan relies on his integrity to establish himself. He generously shares his farming techniques and takes the lead in establishing a cooperative, helping the entire village become prosperous. In the end, the wicked get what they deserve.
