On a freezing, snowbound night, midwife Miao Guizhi rescues the heavily pregnant nine-tailed spirit fox Yin Xiao from a snowdrift on her way home. She personally delivers three fox cubs—Jin Dou, Yin Dou, and Mao Dou—who call her Grandma. A hunter covets the fox's pelt and treasure, a medicine merchant seeks to prolong his life by exploiting the fox's body, and an evil cultivator plots to extract the nine-tailed fox's essence to refine a lamp. They lay one sinister trap after another, using mind-confusion spells and life-sealing formations, even threatening the entire village to force Miao Guizhi into submission. Armed with nothing but her midwife's scissors, she stands alone against the villains before uniting her neighbors. Through the warmth and compassion of ordinary people protecting life, she breaks the sinister magic and drives the evil cultivator away. Though the thieves flee, the ancient seal hidden in the snowy mountains remains unbroken. A vast conspiracy threatening the vitality of the entire forest has only just begun to reveal itself.
