Modern woman Jiang Luyi accidentally transmigrates into a historical romance novel and, due to a system malfunction, becomes Su Ruan, a supporting female character destined to die within three chapters. At the start, she mistakenly breaks into the bedchamber of Prince Zhao, Yan Chen, a deranged villain, and injures him before desperately fleeing. To avoid the tragic death awaiting her in the original story, she tries to keep her adorably foolish maid in check while navigating the relationships between the main characters to stay alive. At the Flower Festival banquet, she is forced to dazzle everyone and take first place. Later, while escaping, she falls into the water and saves Yan Chen, who has faked his death after being attacked. Filled with suspicion, Yan Chen continually tests her, entangling danger with romantic tension as Su Ruan struggles to survive one perilous step at a time.
