After exhausting her wood-element supernatural ability, Lin Wan dies amid a zombie horde. When she opens her eyes again, she discovers that she has become a convict slave in the Minister of Rites' household, about to be assigned as a wife to a soldier stationed at the border. To secure her survival, Lin Wan volunteers and chooses Lu Zheng, the impoverished but formidable general who ranked first in battle achievements. The borderlands are suffering through a famine, but with her wood-element ability, Lin Wan searches for wild vegetables, cultivates medicinal herbs, clears wasteland, and grows grain, gradually turning the struggling Lu family into a prosperous household.
