When the doomsday arrived, Song Ke'er disguised her appearance using disguise abilities to avoid conflicts and changed her name to Chen Xiaoling, working as a cook in the logistics department of the Liehuo Base. Song Ran, the base leader, brought back Lu Yanyan, whose appearance closely resembled hers. Lu Yanyan relied on his favor to willfully bully and squeeze out Chen Xiaoling, pushing her into dangerous situations. In times of crisis, Chen Xiaoling was saved by Zhou Nanhe from the North City Base, and her awakened ability of purifying and restoring seeds helped the base solve its food crisis. After Song Ran learned the true identity of the female lead, he was filled with remorse, but past hurts could not be erased. When the zombie horde broke out, Song Ran finally detonated his crystal core and sacrificed himself.
