After surviving a plane crash, Lu Chen is stranded on a deserted island. At death's door, he starts from scratch and turns his fate around with the help of a battered Survival Manual. When he rescues a dying wolf cub named Lie Feng, the man and wolf go from cautiously testing each other to becoming inseparable companions who face life and death together. They hunt, fend off ferocious beasts, and expand their home. Just as Lu Chen grows accustomed to loneliness and the brutal laws of survival, a distress note from a neighboring island forces him to build a wooden boat and venture into unknown, perilous waters.
