Jiang Nian takes utmost care of her childhood sweetheart boyfriend Huo Yan and her college best friend Xu Man. Until one day, Huo Yan brings back a so-called "stray cat" and asks Jiang Nian to foster it. Jiang Nian unexpectedly overhears the cat cursing Huo Yan as a scumbag. The cat exposes the truth: it is no stray cat at all, but a golden shaded cat bought by Huo Yan for 88,000 yuan as a gift for Xu Man, serving as their token of love. Even more cruelly, Huo Yan and Xu Man have been having an affair for two years, planning not only to snatch away Jiang Nian's advanced study quota in Beicheng, but also intending to use Jiang Nian's money to rent a house, buy a car, and cohabit in Beicheng.
