Song Dehou, a retired master chef specializing in flour-based foods, sells fresh pork wontons at Hongyuan Industrial Park. When rising meat prices force him to raise his prices by fifty cents, customers misunderstand him. Meanwhile, the unscrupulous vendor Lai Guangfa steals his business with low prices, artificial flavoring in his bone broth, and spoiled meat filling. Forced to leave, Song moves to the morning market in the south of the city. He insists on using fresh meat every day and never selling leftovers from the previous night, eventually winning back the public's trust through quality ingredients and honest cooking. Lai Guangfa ultimately causes a mass food poisoning incident. Song is invited back to the industrial park, where he protects food safety and the conscience of everyday commerce with an open kitchen and a bowl of wontons that never leaves customers feeling uneasy.
