The earthen wall of secondhand shop owner Lin Bei's home collapses after being struck by fireworks, revealing several jars of aged liquor. Seeing an opportunity to make money, his neighbor Wang Dafa and his son use a fake admission letter from a prestigious 985 university to demand half the liquor. Lin Bei sells them 500-yuan defective liquor with damaged seals, but Wang Dafa fails to resell it for a profit. Enraged, he retaliates by selling fake rosewood furniture stuffed with ordinary green bricks. Lin Bei sets a trap and exposes the fraud, forcing him to pay enormous breach-of-contract compensation. The father and son mortgage their shop to cover their debts, then cause trouble and even file a fraudulent lawsuit, only to lose again. When the truth about the fake university admission letter comes to light, both are blacklisted debtors. The court awards their shop to Lin Bei, who expands his business.
