During a devastating plague at the end of the Han Dynasty, a yellow weasel named Huang Jiu swallows a golden pill and gains intelligence. After his entire family is slaughtered, he makes his first entry in the ledger of vengeance. Once he takes human form and achieves the Golden Core realm, he establishes Duanyun Ridge, recruits a stone spirit and a loyal dog, and meets Rendong, a White Immortal. When the case of the stolen Immortal Peaches' pits comes to light, Rendong is taken to the Heavenly Court's Peach Garden and forced to tend the trees and hasten their fruiting. After enduring nine heavenly thunderbolts, Huang Jiu enters the garden as a laborer and reunites with Rendong, only to discover that the supposed assignment is actually a trap designed to lure him in. He decides to investigate the five-hundred-year-old Immortal Peach case himself.
