Starting on hell mode, Chen Yu, a university student, faces blocked mountain roads, cut-off agricultural supplies, and even an inability to obtain water for irrigation. Armed with his grandfather's old grafting knife, he plunges into Huangniling, a stretch of yellow earth that has lain abandoned for more than a decade. Nobody believes he can grow good watermelons, much less lead the entire village to prosperity. Yet with his family's ancestral grafting skills, he truly manages to grow watermelons across the mountainsides.
