Born into an ancient world, Chen Qingzhi is only six when her family is disowned and driven out with nothing: her parents, her two older brothers, her foolish maternal uncle, and her. Fortunately, her grandmaster left behind a book of medicine. Using wild vegetables and medicinal plants that can also serve as food, she trades with the 'Old Ancestor' for rice, flour, meat, and eggs. Rather than spend their daughter's good fortune raising useless sons, her parents decide to put down roots in a barren ravine. They reclaim wasteland, grow crops, raise chickens and geese, gather medicinal herbs, sell eggs, and send the children to school. Step by step, they turn Oxen Lying Bay into a granary. With herbal fragrances filling the kitchen and time passing at a leisurely pace, watch how this adorable little girl uses a single book of medicine to transform hardship into the warmth and comfort of everyday life.
