Kicked out by his business partner, scorned by his wife and divorced, and blacklisted across the entire industry, 35-year-old Lu Yuan loses everything overnight. Carrying a battered woven sack, he arrives at barren saline-alkali land and uses the simplest methods to make compost, turn the soil, and persevere against all odds. Dr. Lin Xi goes from doubting him to entrusting him with her life, while his comrade Dajun stands by him through thick and thin, and villagers of all ages offer everything they can. After surviving poisoning, weathering a typhoon, and defeating a state-owned enterprise's plagiarism, he rises from the mire and grows 'green gold' on a rocky wasteland.
