Farmer Jiang Chen exhausts his daughter's wedding dowry to purchase a grain dryer, facing ridicule and skepticism from the entire village for defying the tradition of sun-drying crops. When a massive, continuous rainstorm strikes, the villagers' grain dampens and molds on a large scale, and everyone comes knocking to ask for help. Putting aside past grievances, Jiang opens up his equipment to help the entire village dry their grain overnight. After the disaster, he takes the lead in establishing an agricultural cooperative, gathering villagers to pool funds and build modern drying facilities.
