Lin Chen and Zhao Lei return to their university dorm after a fire, where the two must choose between a gold and a blue mystery orb. Zhao Lei snatches the blue orb first, getting ten million in cash; Lin Chen chooses the gold orb, awakening the eternal cash flow system with a yield of ten cents per minute. Lin Chen moves out of the dorm, repeatedly testing to figure out the system rules, with no extra avenues for profit. Zhao Lei spends extravagantly, then successively encounters investment losses and gambling addiction, burdened with loan shark debts as his life rapidly collapses.
