Traveling back to a mountain village in Northeast China in 1970, Chen Zhao did not flinch in the face of famine and severe cold. Relying on his exceptional skills, he ventured into the mountains to hunt, bringing back hope for his family and fellow villagers time and again, from wild boars to wolf packs. He established a hunting team, leading the villagers to unite and help each other, fend off beast attacks, and reclaim wasteland for production. In those hard times, he shared weal and woe with the sisters Liu Zhiruo and Liu Zhiqing, protecting his small family with responsibility and true affection while also warming the entire village. This is a story about courage, responsibility, and struggle, showcasing the spirit of ordinary people who strive for self-improvement and watch over one another in adversity.
