Seven days before the 1986 flood, Lu Zhenhai is reborn. He unilaterally cancels the street-corner shop, rents the old granary on the hillside, and insists on moving his wife, daughter, and mother away from the lowlands. His wife Zheng Qiufang goes from anger to checking accounts, stocking food, and cooperating with the evacuation; meanwhile, younger brother Zheng Qiusheng takes over the shop to open business, registers credit under false names, hoards secret lists, forges grain collection slips, and even frames his sister. When the flood strikes, the couple rescues Qiusheng and clears up the truth. After the waters recede, they settle their accounts, rent a new shop named 'Heshun Grocery', and the family reopens for business.
