A modern ordinary person accidentally returns to the 1980s, becoming the infamous rural scoundrel Xu Wenhai. Waking up to a bare home, the family starving, and his wife living in fear, he turns over a new leaf and drops his bad habits. He goes down to the river to catch soft-shell turtles, taking them to the county town to sell for income. He opens up restaurant supply channels, teams up with village hunters to expand wild game sources, improves his family's food and clothing while repairing broken family relations, faces local gossip and villains' provocations head-on, seizes the era's opportunities, and begins a down-to-earth path of getting rich and making a comeback in the impoverished countryside.
