Lin Yuan, captain of an apocalypse beast-hunting squad, dies at the jaws of the Black-Armored Crocodile Emperor. He returns to the day of the first Red Rain, only to find himself transformed into specimen No. 017 at Jiangcheng Yangtze Alligator Breeding and Conservation Center—a round-headed, short-legged internet-famous little crocodile that burrows at the slightest fright. Knowing that an even deeper global mutation will occur three years later, he decides to seize opportunities and eliminate future Beast Kings before they have a chance to grow.
