Su Caiwei, a herb-gathering girl, braves the wind and snow to rescue a withered old vine discarded by the medicinal herb merchant Zhou Wancheng. Through her warmth and kindness, she awakens the spirit of the plants. In gratitude, the old vine bears golden fruits every day. Caiwei remains humble despite her newfound wealth, using all of it to repay debts, help those in need, and benefit her neighbors. Greedy for profit, Zhou Wancheng tries to seize the magical vine and cuts it down in a foolish attempt to become rich overnight, only to see his greed destroy his entire medicinal herb field. When a snow disaster seals off the mountains and cuts off the water supply, Caiwei puts aside past grievances and opens a well to save lives. Her kindness eventually transforms Zhou Wancheng, and together they carve through the rock to bring forth a living spring and rescue the entire town. Wealth born of greed turns to ashes, while a heart devoted to goodness nourishes all living things. Only a heart of benevolence and virtue is the most precious remedy in this world.
