Arabesque Above the Clouds
In Wuqiao, Hebei, the hometown of Chinese acrobatics, the nearly bankrupt Fudi Acrobatics School welcomes a glimmer of hope thanks to the visit of a French carnival delegation. Young acrobat Ban Lan unexpectedly impresses the delegation with a disruptive ballet act; retired ballerina Gu Pan is also facing a life choice. Moving from conflict to understanding, the two jointly attempt to fuse Chinese high-altitude acrobatics with Western ballet, pioneering "tightrope ballet" and launching a cultural dialogue between tradition and contemporary, East and West.
