Lin Guilan, who has spent years working along the coast, predicts an extremely powerful typhoon by observing the sea and the sky. When the village pools its money to expand its offshore fish farms, she repeatedly warns everyone to stop work and reinforce their structures. Instead, she is attacked by the villagers, her biased parents, her younger sister Lin Xiaolan, who spearheads the investment, and her brother-in-law Zhang Cheng. The villagers use moral pressure to force her to invest all her savings, but she insists on using the money to reinforce her own house and fish farm. The typhoon arrives early, destroying every fish farm in the village except hers. After the disaster, her surviving catch sells for millions. The villagers and the Lin family lose everything, while Zhang Cheng is investigated and prosecuted for illegal fundraising. Lin Xiaolan works odd jobs to repay her debts and fulfill her filial duties, while Lin Guilan builds a smart aquaculture base.
