Traveling through to become the legitimate son of the Defense of the Nation Duke's Mansion, Shen Yan unlocks the perfect lying-flat starting point. With a prominent family background and free from worries about food and clothing, without needing to involution or strive for merits, he only seeks to spend his days in leisure and carefree ease, steadily muddling through a lifetime as his greatest fulfillment. Yet Heaven fails to grant people's wishes; an old decree from the late emperor causes the sovereign to issue an imperial marriage edict, unexpectedly bestowing the fiercely prominent eldest princess Li Zhaoning upon him. For Shen Yan, the haughty, unyielding, and noble eldest princess is never a good match, but rather a shackle binding his freedom and a life-threatening living ancestor at every turn. His lying-flat dream shatters overnight, and with one mind he only thinks of ways to bypass this fatal marriage contract.
