Gao Neng, a modern Taoist priest, dies unexpectedly and finds his soul transported into the body of a bandit stronghold's military strategist, who shares his name, in the Mangshan Mountains of the Great Cheng Dynasty. Facing the desperate situation of a mountain flood destroying their stronghold and barbarian tribes demanding tribute, he discovers that his junior fellow disciple can send modern supplies to him by burning sacrificial offerings. Thus, in an ancient world plagued by food and medicine shortages, he gains access to instant noodles for emergencies, steel for forging armor, and an endless supply of blueprints and other modern resources. Transforming himself into the legendary 'Heaven's Punishment Taoist Master,' he executes traitors, repels barbarian troops, takes in refugees, builds cities, trains soldiers, conducts trade, and manufactures cannons, turning a dilapidated bandit stronghold into a major regional center. However, his junior disciple's actions attract the attention of the authorities, forcing Gao Neng into a shocking political conspiracy involving the royal court's invasion of the south and the Northern Pacification Prince's treason. From a lowly strategist fighting for survival, he gradually becomes the key figure bearing the fate of an entire dynasty on his shoulders.
