After graduating from university, Lin Wan and her boyfriend, Zhu Hao, partner up to establish a pig farm. However, Zhu Hao's greedy mother, Li Zhen, forces them to split up. Li Zhen replaces soybean meal with yellow mud, causing the pigs to fall ill. She then feeds them swill and injects them with hormones, eventually triggering an outbreak of swine fever. After Lin Wan's second uncle reports the farm and gets it shut down, Zhu Hao starts working to pay off the hefty fine. By chance, Lin Wan hires him back to work at her pig farm.
