Xiao Xun, a modern graduate student in chemistry, unexpectedly travels back to ancient times and is forced to marry two women convicted of crimes. Using his expertise in chemical engineering, he manufactures useful products and makes a living through trade. By chance, he meets two fellow countrymen who have also transmigrated from the modern world. Meanwhile, Prince Rui secretly plots a rebellion, throwing the imperial court and the country into turmoil. The three decide to join forces to support the imperial court and put down the rebellion. After the turmoil ends, Xiao Xun proactively petitions the emperor for an edict to promote industry, lifting restrictions on establishing new-style enterprises. Using advanced chemical knowledge to transform traditional handicrafts, he gradually reshapes the development of the old era.
